Gaugewise / Fuel Cost Calculator
Cost
Enter your car's MPG, your local fuel price, and how much you drive — get your real annual cost, cost per mile, and how it compares to going electric.
At today's prices, switching would save you roughly $864/yr in fuel costs alone — before accounting for the price difference of the vehicles themselves.
How is annual fuel cost calculated?
Annual fuel cost = (miles driven per year ÷ MPG) × price per gallon. The three inputs — mileage, fuel economy, and local price — are all it takes.
Is an EV actually cheaper to run?
Usually yes on a cost-per-mile basis, since electricity is typically cheaper per mile than gasoline — but the exact gap depends on your local electricity and fuel prices, and this doesn't account for the price difference between the vehicles themselves or charging setup costs.
For a plain MPG ↔ L/100km ↔ km/L conversion without the cost math, use the MPG converter.
